We harvested our first strawberries during the 1st week of May. We had fun harvesting (eating a few of course). We expect the plants to be loaded when we return to school on Monday, May 6th.
Evan Vincent, Warren County High School: Strawberry Production in a School Garden
Check out my project. I planted three different varieties of strawberries The slides were posted from the beginning of the project until the end. I had a lot of help from students in the Agriculture classes and staff members at WCHS. The beds were prepared in late September and the plants were placed in the beds in October. They will be monitored throughout the winter and early spring. I expect the strawberries to be ready for harvest in April.
Plant Protection Covers
The strawberry plants must be covered when temperatures drop below 25 degrees from October - February. From March until harvest, the plants must be covered when temperatures drop below 32 degrees to protect the buds and flowers.
